Factory Reset: selected data or the full configuration
Menu → Setup → System → Factory Reset resets configuration data in the running image. It does not download or flash a new image. It does not generally uninstall plugin packages, although it can remove their configuration.
Before resetting
Section titled “Before resetting”Create a settings backup and keep a copy outside the receiver. Otherwise channel lists, timers, credentials and custom skin settings may be lost. Finish recordings and other active tasks first.
This dialog does not format the hard disk. Recording destinations can nevertheless become inaccessible when mount or path settings disappear. Configuration can also exist outside /etc/enigma2: a factory reset is not a complete cleanup of every Linux system file.
Every option and its effect
Section titled “Every option and its effect”Full factory reset = Yes removes the contents of the Enigma2 configuration directory and installs available image defaults. It also restores the shipped network configuration. The usual default enables Ethernet with DHCP, which can change the address used for SSH.
For a selective reset, first set Full factory reset = No. Additional rows appear only when the dialog finds relevant files. In the reviewed version the individual reset options initially default to Yes: check every visible row and set unwanted deletions to No.

The dialog classifies files by names and extensions. It does not perform a complete analysis of every plugin’s data. The eleven reference fields including the full-reset selector provide original help and configuration keys.
Running the reset and checking the result
Section titled “Running the reset and checking the result”Green → Reset opens a confirmation prompt. Only accepting that prompt performs the selected action; its default answer is No. Enigma2 then exits and is restarted by the normal startup mechanism. Removing settings enables the start wizard.
Check the network address, tuners, channel list, mounts, recording destination and time afterwards. An apparently missing extension may only require reconfiguration. If a backup is restored automatically, the old configuration may immediately reappear; see AutoRestore.
