Channels, EPG and streaming in OpenWebif

Television and Radio expose the receiver’s existing channel lists. Classic navigation includes Current, Bouquets, Providers, Satellites, All Channels and EPG. The modern view arranges bouquets and programmes differently.

Find channels and information

1. Open a bouquet, for example the list containing Das Erste HD and ZDF HD.
2. Inspect current/next programmes, start/end times and progress. Open details through the programme/info action.
3. Use EPG or channel EPG for more events. Enter search text and optionally enable Include description and Restrict to bouquets.
4. Prepare a timer from a matching event. Check channel, date, time and destination before saving.

Expand a bouquet, zap the receiver and open a stream are different actions. Check small icons using their tooltips. Zapping changes the programme on the TV and can allocate tuner resources. A single tuner has the same simultaneous reception limits when controlled through a browser.

Streaming or WebTV

A stream action may download an M3U/XSPF playlist for an external player. This contains a stream URL, not a downloaded recording. Installed WebTV/player support may also offer browser playback.

• Normal DVB streaming typically uses port 8001. It may require separate reachability and authentication in addition to the web interface.
• Zap before streaming first switches the receiver to the selected service, affecting the TV and potentially occupied tuners.
• Transcoding requires compatible hardware and an installed backend. Bitrate/resolution affect bandwidth and quality; a menu entry alone does not establish transcoding support.
• Browsers, external players and the receiver do not necessarily support the same codecs. DVB TS may need an external player even though the web interface works.
• With direct IPTV playback in the browser, the browser fetches the stream. Provider access, CORS, HTTPS/mixed content and format support may limit playback. Playlists can contain IPTV credentials; never publish them.

Streams still depend on tuners, reception, networking and, where applicable, decryption entitlement. Missing programme data is often a separate EPG problem: missing EPG/service references. Formats: players and codecs.
