Understand and select skins

A skin controls the appearance of the Enigma2 interface: colours, fonts, layout and available screen variants. Core tasks such as configuring a network or installing plugins remain the same.

Menu → Setup → Usage & GUI → Skin Settings

  1. Install an additional skin through plugin management if it is not already present.
  2. Open Skin Settings and select an installed skin.
  3. Check the offered preview and confirm using the labelled action.
  4. Perform a GUI restart if requested.

Some skins provide their own configuration plugins. Their options belong to those plugins and are not necessarily available in the general skin selection screen.

  • Skin: Appearance and layout of the interface.
  • Picons: Small channel logos; a separate topic that can be installed independently of a skin.
  • Controls: The foundation guides explain menu paths and actions by name.

Start with installing and activating skins from the feed. The complete Umbra handbook explains all 39 style options, five packs, seven palettes, HD/FHD/WQHD, channel lists, Infobar, weather, e2MDB and personal packs. The full German source manual has been translated into English, with figures and shared website search.

The MetrixHD guide explains HD/FHD/WQHD, weather, skinparts, fonts, colours and additional options. The channel list gallery compares four classic views and 15 new combinations.

More skin guides can be added as subpages and will appear in the same search.
