Channel list – menu, settings and all styles

The channel list displays channels and programme information. You can change its appearance without installing a new channel list package. This page shows the options provided by MetrixHD; other skins can supply different templates.

  1. Open the channel list, usually with the up or down arrow. A customised key map may use another action.
  2. Press MENU inside the list to open the Channel list context menu.
  3. Select Settings. In the tested version, pressing MENU a second time also opens these settings directly.
  4. Change the required option and select Save. The channel list updates. Cancel discards changes made in this settings dialog.

The regular menu path is Menu → Setup → Usage & GUI → Channel Selection Settings.

Action Purpose
Settings Change channel list appearance and behaviour
Set as startup service Choose a service to use at startup
Add service to bouquet Add the selected channel to a favourites list
Find Currently Playing Service Return the selection to the current service
Rename entry Edit the displayed name
Remove entry Remove an entry from the current list; check which list is affected before confirming
Enable move mode Change the order of entries; leave move mode when finished
Add Marker To Bouquet Add a visible separator to a bouquet
Enable bouquet edit Use the available bouquet editing functions
Add alternatives Define alternative services for a channel
Reload services Reload channel data, for example after editing it externally

Parental controls, information and additional plugin actions depend on the context, setup level and installed extensions. A menu opened in the bouquet overview offers different actions from one opened on an individual channel. To change a style, open Settings; editing actions change the channel lists themselves.

Channel Selection Screen selects the layout of the entire window. Template names may remain in English even when another interface language is selected.

Screen Layout
Legacy mode Classic channel list; MetrixHD supplies four variants
List and event details Channel list alongside detailed information about the selected programme
List and live TV Channel list with an embedded television window
Full screen A list using the wide screen area
Channel list settings with Legacy mode selected as the screen style
Legacy mode enables the classic layout. Choose its MetrixHD variant in MyMetrixLite. Open original image ↗

A new screen layout also offers Channel Selection List, which controls how individual entries are displayed:

List Useful for
Single-line list A compact list showing many channels at once
Picture list with remaining time Pictures with the time remaining for the current programme
Picture list with percentage Pictures with percentage progress for the current programme
Programme columns Comparing programme information in columns
Picture grid Browsing channels as cards in a grid
New channel list settings with separate selections for screen layout and list style
Each of the three new screen layouts supports five list styles, giving 15 combinations. Open original image ↗

Further options cover channel numbers, picons, service and encryption icons, timer or recording indicators and picon aspect ratio. The visible fields depend on the selected mode. See the channel selection reference for descriptions and configuration keys.

First select Legacy mode in the channel list settings. Then open Menu → Plugin Browser → MyMetrixLite → Other settings and scroll to the channel selection style. The four variants combine left or right alignment with a large picon or several upcoming programmes. Save the settings and select Apply changes in the main MyMetrixLite window.

For the new screen styles, select templates in the channel list settings themselves. The classic selection in MyMetrixLite therefore depends on the selected mode. More MetrixHD options.

Expand a group to compare the four classic views or all five list styles of a new screen layout. Click an image to open the original capture. Every image comes from the running Enigma2 interface, with playback stopped and the receiver’s bootlogo as the background. The TV window therefore contains no live programme. EPG text and existing programme artwork can still appear from stored data. Their language comes from the broadcaster or data provider, independently of the menu language.

Picons are channel logos. Programme artwork represents an individual programme and needs a suitable data source or extension. A picture template does not generate this data. Missing artwork does not automatically indicate a broken skin; some templates can show a picon as a fallback.

If titles, times or progress are missing, check the EPG. If entire channels are missing, check channel lists and reception. If the list feels too small or crowded, start with Single-line list, then adjust fonts and resolution.

Tested with OpenATV 8.0 and MetrixHD at HD resolution. Available choices come from the installed skin templates; older image or skin versions may offer fewer options.

This remains the shared guide for channel lists, context menus and styles. The existing 50-option reference also covers separate classic/new-template fields, number entry, zap delays and the INFO action. Not every field applies simultaneously to both layouts.

Configure logo sources under Picons; the list style enables their display. The action of OK/UP/DOWN when opening the list comes from remote-button settings. Usage & GUI brings the related menu paths together.
