e2MDB – First setup

e2MDB: First setup
Native MetrixHD view. Test values are examples. API fields are covered with black bars; real credentials were not changed. Open original image ↗

Start with a small selection of clearly named files. This makes it possible to verify credentials, paths and match quality before processing a large collection.

  1. Install e2MDB from the OpenATV 8.0+ plugin feed, if it is not installed already. Let the package manager install its dependencies.
  2. Mount your HDD or SSD and check free space and write access. Open any NAS folders to check connectivity.
  3. Open e2MDB in Plugins. Show in main menu adds another entry.
  4. Press MENU in the scanner. Enable Enable Media Database, choose the Cache path and Provider search language.
  5. Enable only the providers you intend to use. Enter the required API keys. Select your preferred metadata language and choose whether English fallback is acceptable.
  6. Press Green/Save. Back in the scanner, open Green/Paths, add a small test folder, set its content mode and Recursive, and save.
  7. Select that path and press Blue/Start scan. During an active job the same button becomes Stop scan.
  8. Check the result in the web editor. Then add more folders.
  9. For live TV, configure EPG integration, channel selection and prefill. EPGRefresh and scheduled tasks are separate steps.
  • The backend reports that its daemon is running and uses the expected database location.
  • A known film has the correct title and year, and artwork if the provider supplies it.
  • A supported skin view displays metadata for a programme with an existing EPG event.
  • The receiver remains usable. A large scan may take time, but its phase, current title or counters should progress.

Green/Save sends normal configuration changes to the backend. After first installation or a plugin update, a GUI restart may be necessary to register sources, menu entries and scheduler functions. A restart is not required for every key or path change.

EXIT closes the scanner display; its backend job may continue. Check the real job status before shutdown, storage changes or maintenance.
