DVB-C: cable connection and scan parameters
Menu → Setup → Tuners, Scanning & Reception → Tuner Configuration → cable frontend. Connect the cable outlet’s TV socket to the matching receiver input. Do not confuse it with a conventional satellite output. Leave aerial power off on a direct cable connection.
- Enable DVB-C on a supported hybrid tuner; do not enable unconnected reception types without a reason.
- Select Scan type: Provider if the listed country, provider and region match the actual service.
- Set Network ID from the operator’s information. It can vary by location even with the same provider.
- If there is no suitable provider entry, use Bands or Steps with matching parameters.
- Save, start an automatic or manual scan and check a free-to-air service.
| Option | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Provider, country, region | Selects a prepared frequency list |
| Network ID | Identifies the cable network; unrelated to Wi-Fi SSID, IP address or customer number |
| EU/US bands | Spectrum ranges for frequency discovery; avoid enabling both sets without reason |
| Frequency step in kHz | Raster for stepped searching; smaller steps may take longer, unsuitable steps can miss carriers |
| QAM 16/32/64/128/256 | Modulations to check during frequency discovery |
| Symbol rates 6900/6875 and additional SR | Search candidates from operator specifications; these numbers are kSym/s, not MHz |
| Connector | Physical input selection where the driver provides it |
A network scan reads additional frequencies from the NIT after receiving a suitable initial carrier. It cannot overcome an incorrect start frequency or symbol rate. CableScan is an additional provider module with its own Network ID, HD list and numbering; it is not universal for every cable network.
Reception, encryption and concurrent use
Section titled “Reception, encryption and concurrent use”A discovered service may be encrypted. A successful scan does not supply a subscription, suitable decryption or a supported codec. Two services in the same cable multiplex may be usable concurrently with one tuner; see limits and examples. DVB-C FBC will be extended separately with a suitable receiver.
