OSD, picture enhancement and test patterns

First disable TV overscan/zoom or choose a suitable pixel-exact display mode. Then open Setup → Video → OSD Calibration. Left/Right and Up/Down move the interface; Width/Height set its area. Adjust the outer red border until it is just visible at the real TV’s edges, then save with Green.

The numbers can use an internal coordinate system: 720 × 576 in this dialog does not prove SD HDMI output. A grab image shows the framebuffer and cannot establish whether the TV crops it. Check on the connected display.

The optional VideoEnhancement system plugin appears under Setup → Video when installed and supported. Its controls come from the video driver and vary across receivers. Other platforms may provide different picture controls. These affect decoded video, separately from skin colours and TV picture presets.

Green/OK accepts, Red/Exit cancels; Yellow recalls the previous configuration and Blue the defaults. Some controls apply immediately as a preview. Note the starting values and change one setting at a time. Similar processing in the TV/AVR can compound the effect.

The optional VideoTune plugin provides brightness, contrast, colour and geometry/overscan patterns. View them on the TV with consistent room lighting and TV picture mode. A neutral baseline is more useful than maximum sharpness/saturation everywhere. An SDR pattern is not an HDR calibration; a screenshot is not a colour measurement.
