Settings, channel lists and bouquets

In the Enigma2 community, “settings” can refer to two different things. This matters particularly when downloading packages.

Term Meaning
System settings Configuration values for the interface, recordings, networking and other features
Service database Known channels and their reception details
Bouquet / favourites list An ordered selection of channels, such as news or favourite stations
Settings package Often a prepared channel list with bouquets, not necessarily a backup of your entire configuration
  1. Configure the tuner for your reception first.
  2. Scan for channels or install a channel-list package intended for your reception from the offered package feed.
  3. Open the channel list and use its labelled action to open favourites or bouquets.
  4. Select a list and test several channels.

An imported list may contain channels that are unavailable on your connection. It does not unlock encrypted services.

Open Menu → Plugin Browser → Install Plugins and select Setting Packages. These packages contain prepared collections of channels and bouquets.

For an Astra 19.2° East connection, choose a package whose description covers that position. A multi-satellite list can include services that your connection cannot receive. The first-run wizard and an installed channel-list plugin may provide further sources; downloading a list is different from scanning for channels.

Press MENU in the channel list to see its editing actions. Depending on the current view, you can create a bouquet, add services or edit their order. Read the selected action and leave editing mode when finished.

Options for the list’s appearance and behaviour are under Menu → Setup → Usage & GUI → Channel Selection Settings. The reference includes Enable multiple bouquets, Numbering mode and Always show bouquets. Look up channel list options.

You do not need a new settings package to change the appearance: Channel list – MENU, settings and all styles illustrates the classic and new layouts.

A new settings package may replace existing channel lists. First use Menu → Setup → Software Management → Backup System Settings and check which files the backup includes. Keep a backup if you want to preserve custom bouquets.

For general options such as audio, EPG or networking, use Find a setting.

TV/radio fields, 4097/5001/5002 and bouquet examples explain the playback service and channel identifiers. ServiceApp configures the additional players.
