DVD Player and Blu-ray Player
An ISO is a disc image, not a video codec. A DVD structure typically contains VIDEO_TS; a Blu-ray structure contains BDMV with folders such as STREAM and PLAYLIST. Opening one VOB or M2TS file may omit title order, chapters or disc navigation.
DVD Player
Section titled “DVD Player”The feed package is enigma2-plugin-extensions-dvdplayer. The DVD service uses 4369, independently of ServiceMP3 4097. This shared guide assumes no built-in disc drive: an optical drive must be recognised by the image and its disc must be readable.
For a DVD stored on HDD/NAS, open the recognised ISO or DVD folder in native MovieSelection, which can hand it to DVD Player. With EMC active, its ISO/playback options apply. DVD Player is available in the extensions menu and, with a recognised disc, the main menu.
| Control | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Arrows and OK in a DVD menu | Select and confirm disc menu entries. |
| MENU / STOP | Opens the DVD menu in the reviewed standard keymap context; STOP does not simply exit the player here. |
| PLAY/PAUSE, EXIT/TV | Play, pause or leave; read confirmations. |
| Previous/Next, Channel +/−, Blue | Previous/next chapter, next/previous title or chapter entry by number. Chapters are sections of a title; titles can be the main film, extras or alternative versions. |
| Short/long RADIO, TEXT | Next audio track / optional DVD audio menu, or next subtitle language. DVD buttons differ from live TV; check HELP. |
| Angle | Works only where the DVD supplies multiple camera angles. |
The disc determines the available choices. A forced subtitle track may translate selected scenes rather than every dialogue. Full DVD navigation requires the DVD playback path; switching the player for one VOB file does not reconstruct the complete disc.
Blu-ray Player
Section titled “Blu-ray Player”Package: enigma2-plugin-extensions-blurayplayer. Open Plugins → Blu-ray Player and select the folder containing BDMV/STREAM, or an appropriate ISO. The plugin uses libbluray to read disc structures and offers title selection. An M2TS file working through a separate GStreamer/FFmpeg playback path does not prove full disc support.

- Mount HDD/NAS and select the disc folder or ISO.
- Compare the titles found by the plugin by duration and content; do not assume title 1 is the main film.
- Start a title and check audio/subtitle tracks and chapters.
- Exit playback before unmounting the storage device. An ISO is mounted for playback.
The title list is not a complete interactive Blu-ray menu. BD-J/Java menus and special disc functions are not generally guaranteed by this workflow. UHD/HDR, particular audio formats, protected discs and external drives also depend on software, disc and hardware.
Blu-ray settings
Section titled “Blu-ray settings”In the title list, Blue → Settings opens setup. The reviewed version has four options:
| Option | Purpose |
|---|---|
Enable AACS support – config.plugins.blurayplayer.enable_aacs |
Controls use of an existing user-provided key database for protected discs. Enabling it alone does not guarantee playback. |
Disc and menu language – disc_language |
Preferred language for localised disc content; cannot add a language absent from the disc. |
Preferred audio language – audio_language |
Selection at playback start; also check the available tracks. |
Blu-ray region – region |
Region reported by the player; not a codec setting. |
The last three keys also belong to config.plugins.blurayplayer.. Save applies the values. Automatic language selection and subtitles may also affect the selected playback path.
When a disc does not play
Section titled “When a disc does not play”Check whether the complete structure is present and readable, the mount path is correct, and the plugin recognises titles. Is there sound without a picture, or a picture without sound? Use container/codec information and a log to narrow down the error. Simply renaming files to .ts does not convert them.
Installed packages, source code and the native Blu-ray file browser were checked. Actual DVD/Blu-ray playback, disc menus, optical drives and subtitles from a real disc have not yet been tested. Basis: Enigma2 DVD, Blu-ray plugin.
