Set up and save EPG
The EPG is the electronic programme guide. It shows information about current and upcoming programmes. Available data depends on the programme information being provided and the source in use.
Open the EPG
Section titled “Open the EPG”Use the assigned programme guide button or an offered EPG action. OpenATV provides several views, including a single-channel list, multi-channel overviews and graphical timelines.
Changing the view changes how existing data is displayed. It does not generate missing programme information.
Basic settings location
Section titled “Basic settings location”Menu → Setup → EPG → EPG Settings
Other entries in the EPG menu configure individual views. If the section is missing, check the settings mode.

Save EPG data
Section titled “Save EPG data”- Open EPG Settings.
- Find Save EPG data and enable it if you want programme data retained in a file.
- Check EPG location and EPG filename. The storage location must be available at boot time as well.
- If required, enable Scheduled save of ‘epg.dat’ and choose the offered interval in hours.
- Save your settings.
| Option | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Save EPG data | Controls whether the EPG file is saved |
| EPG location | Directory used for saved programme data |
| EPG filename | Cache filename, typically epg.dat |
| Scheduled save | Saves the cache additionally at regular intervals |
epg.dat is a cache of programme information. Saving it does not download additional programme data from the internet.

The other EPG source switches visible in the example do not all need to be enabled. Their use depends on the services and data available through your reception setup.
If the guide stays empty
Section titled “If the guide stays empty”- Check that the channel can be received and leave it tuned for a while.
- Compare another channel. Providers do not all supply the same amount of information.
- Check the date and time if programmes appear at incorrect times.
- If you use an additional EPG importer, check its sources and settings separately.
