Decryption and parental control
Menu → Setup → Decryption & Parental Control combines two different tasks: authorised access to encrypted programmes and restrictions on using the receiver.
OpenATV does not ship softcams or provide softcam support. Having control menus does not mean decryption software is included. External feeds, their packages and CI/CAM extensions are outside that offering. Before using them, check local legal requirements, your viewing entitlement and the provider’s terms.
| Goal | Chapter |
|---|---|
| Deliberately add an external softcam feed | Install and check the feed |
| Select, restart or automatically assign an installed softcam | Softcam, AutoCam, cardserver and Stream Relay |
| Use a CI module with valid entitlement | CI, CAM and options |
| Restrict channels, EPG age ratings or menus | Set up parental control |
| An encrypted channel stays black | Troubleshooting |
Visible entries depend on hardware, installed packages, available startup scripts and setup level. Expert reveals additional options; it does not install a missing feature. OSCam/CCcam information requires the corresponding detected software, and Common Interface needs a CI slot. Receivers consequently show different subsets of the menu.
Free-to-air services need no softcam. A CAM does not add a tuner either: recording, streaming and decryption limits can apply independently. See recording and watching simultaneously.
The menus were checked against the documented sources. Example screenshots do not verify a working subscription, card activation or CI+ compatibility.
