Select language and locale

Menu → Setup → Usage & GUI → Locale / Language Settings selects the menu language and an available regional variant. English is a language; English (GB) and English (US) are regional variants.

  1. Highlight a language/locale. Installed, available and currently selected are different states.
  2. OK selects an installed entry. For an available entry, it can first install the package, requiring suitable feeds and network access.
  3. Save with Green and accept a GUI restart if offered. Plugins may reload some text only after a restart.
  4. Red/Cancel abandons the active-language selection. It does not automatically uninstall packages already installed.

Highlighting may preview translated text. This is not the same as saving permanently. INFO jumps to the current entry; follow the displayed key actions.

List options and package management

MENU opens the two existing Locale settings: show packaged base locales or all regional locales, and select sorting by the offered names/codes. These help navigate a long list and do not change channel order.

Yellow can offer Install, Delete or Purge depending on the selection. Purge removes unused language packages while respecting protected/permanent packages. It is not just a display filter. Check whether other users require additional languages before confirming. A red/off status icon here says nothing about encrypted TV channels.

What is not automatically translated

  • EPG descriptions come from broadcasters or EPG providers.
  • Audio/subtitle tracks are prioritised under automatic language selection.
  • Bouquets, custom channel names, filenames and personal notes remain.
  • Plugins need their own translations. An English field in a German GUI can indicate a missing plugin translation.
  • Check keyboard layout and timezone/NTP separately.

The extra language selector on this website is independent of the receiver. German and English are native handbook editions; additional website languages translate the English pages automatically while keeping their images.
