EMC – playback, preview and languages

Open EMC → MENU → EMC Setup. Playback behaviour is separate from list appearance. A progress indicator does not mean that every configuration starts playback at the same position.

Resume and the end of a movie

Option	Effect
No resume below 10 seconds	Ignores very early stored positions when resuming.
Jump to first mark	Can use a first cut/start marker, for example to skip pre-recording padding.
Rewind finished movies before playing	Movies classified as finished start from the beginning instead of near the credits. The finished percentage is in skin/progress settings.
Always save last played progress as marker	Writes the last played position as a marker; this is not just a visual highlight.
Zap to channel after record EOF	When reaching the current end of a recording still in progress, switches to its live service according to the selected message/no-message/disabled mode. This differs from the end of a completed file.
Show real length of running records	Tries to reflect the growing recording more accurately; may require additional file access.
Re-open list after STOP	Returns to the library when STOP ends playback.
Re-open list after movie end	Separate behaviour at the natural end.
Leave Movie with Exit	EXIT can end playback rather than only dismissing information overlays.

Use MENU → Playlist Options or Add to current Playlist to assemble multiple titles. Play All and Shuffle All differ from pressing OK on one recording. The playlist-added message confirms the selection; it does not start a recording. Check marked files before any multiple-item action.

Cut-list downloads require the appropriate companion extension. A cut list contains positions; downloading it does not automatically rewrite the video into a physically cut file.

Preview and MiniTV

Preview remained disabled during capture. These are the plugin's real preview and MiniTV controls, not recreated interfaces. Open original image ↗

Show movie preview starts the highlighted file after a delay. That delay uses milliseconds; the offset before the last position uses seconds. Preview can activate NAS connections, wake disks and replace the previous television picture. Leave it disabled for quiet browsing and test deliberately if required.

Hide MiniTV can apply to live TV, live TV/timeshift, playback or everything. MiniTV can also be hidden when showing a cover. Stop service differs from single pixel TV, muted: an invisible, muted service can still consume resources. The skin must provide an appropriate MiniTV area.

Audio and subtitles

Under Language, independent switches enable automatic audio and subtitle selection, each with primary, secondary and tertiary preferred languages. This is a fallback order: if the first language is missing, EMC tries another available track. It does not create new audio tracks or translations.

AC3-track first affects audio selection. Audible output also depends on audio/downmix configuration and the connected equipment. Check these if playback is silent. Automatic subtitles may be enabled again on starting playback even if you manually disabled them during the previous session.

EMC language preferences apply to EMC playback, separately from Enigma2 interface language and operation. Menu language, EPG language, audio tracks and subtitles are different settings.

Unexpected playback behaviour

• If scrolling starts a movie, check preview first.
• If STOP opens an unexpected list, compare re-open after STOP with the player actually being used.
• If a nearly finished movie restarts from the beginning, check the finished percentage and rewind finished movies.
• If resume positions disappear after a file transfer, check the .cuts sidecar before resetting markers.
• A black picture may relate to the hiding method, unsupported media or inaccessible storage; not every cause lies in EMC.
