Understand the wiring: from socket to receiver

A coaxial cable carries the reception signal. HDMI sends the receiver’s picture and sound to the television. LAN/Wi-Fi connects the receiver to the network. A network cable replaces an aerial feed only for explicitly configured network services such as IPTV or fallback reception.

  1. Shut down and disconnect the receiver from power before reconnecting coax cables. A stray braid strand touching the centre conductor can short the LNB supply.
  2. Find the correct input: SAT IN/LNB IN for satellite, ANT IN/CABLE IN for cable or terrestrial. LOOP OUT is not a second independent input.
  3. Use the SAT output of a SAT/TV/radio wall plate. Follow the labels and installation plan, rather than relying on connector shape alone.
  4. Connect receiver HDMI OUT to television HDMI IN and select that TV input.
  5. Connect LAN separately for updates, EPG imports and network features.

Quad and Quattro are different. A Quattro has fixed VL/HL/VH/HH outputs for a suitable multiswitch. A Quad has four switchable subscriber outputs. See LNB types.

Leave aerial power off for direct cable TV. A compatible active aerial may require 5 V. Follow the aerial instructions for passive or separately powered models. Combine cable and aerial only through a suitable switch, such as the SPAUN TAR 5.
