Signal Finder / Satfinder: fields and buttons
Menu → Setup → Tuners, Scanning & Reception → Signal Finder. The extension is technically named Satfinder, but the reviewed revision also supports suitable DVB-C, DVB-T/T2 and ATSC frontends. It combines transponder selection with regularly updated signal readings.

Operation
Section titled “Operation”- Select the connected tuner. On a hybrid frontend choose only a supported, configured reception type.
- Choose User defined/Single transponder for manual parameters or Predefined transponder for a list entry.
- For satellite, select the position, then choose or enter the reference transponder.
- Wait for stable readings after a change. In normal use, Signal Finder tunes the frontend to these parameters.
- OK or Green/Scan starts a service scan on the selected carrier; it is not a harmless confirmation. Use EXIT/Close to return.
Available parameters
Section titled “Available parameters”| Reception type | Fields |
|---|---|
| Satellite | System, satellite, frequency, inversion, symbol rate, polarisation, FEC, S2 modulation, roll-off, pilot; supported MIS/IS ID, PLS mode/code and T2MI PLP/PID |
| Cable | Frequency, symbol rate, modulation, FEC and inversion or predefined transponder |
| DVB-T/T2 | Frequency or channel, region/transponder, system, bandwidth, modulation, code rates, transmission mode, guard interval, hierarchy, T2 PLP ID |
| ATSC | System, frequency, inversion, modulation or predefined entry |
See the scan field reference for each parameter. Signal Finder limits scan type to single or predefined transponder. It removes the normal Network scan, Clear and Only free form rows; its initial purpose is tuning and measurement.
Interpret the readings
Section titled “Interpret the readings”Lock/Signal confirms synchronisation. SNR, AGC and BER depend on driver data; not every receiver supplies every value. Signal diagnosis explains readings and common faults. Higher AGC alone does not prove better quality.
Signal Finder can interrupt live TV and request a free tuner. Selecting another satellite on a motorised installation can move the dish. Account for active recordings when tuners are occupied. This tool cannot remotely correct mechanical alignment and does not replace suitable installation measurement equipment.
