Motor, USALS and stored positions
A DiSEqC motor rotates the entire dish. With a typical coax-powered motor, the receiver sends commands and supplies both motor and LNB through the same cable. Correct mechanical installation and alignment are essential.
Configure USALS
Section titled “Configure USALS”- Select a positioner mode in simple configuration, or use Advanced with DiSEqC 1.2 and USALS.
- Enter your geographic longitude and latitude, including East/West and North/South. These are your location coordinates, not the satellite’s 19.2°E.
- Assign the LNB type and reachable satellites or satellite group.
- Enter manufacturer rotation speeds, step size and number of positions only where those additional fields are needed.
- Move to a reachable reference satellite and check reception. Test other positions without exceeding mechanical limits.
USALS calculates a target angle from location and orbital position. Wrong signs or hemisphere choices produce wrong targets. USALS cannot correct an uneven mast or a misaligned installation.
DiSEqC 1.2 without USALS
Section titled “DiSEqC 1.2 without USALS”Each satellite uses a position number stored in the motor. Disable USALS for that satellite in Advanced configuration and assign the matching stored position. Entering an arbitrary number in tuner setup does not store the dish at that position.
The PositionerSetup extension provides reference-transponder tuning, East/West movement, individual steps, stop, stored position access, reference movement and limits depending on driver support. These actions physically move the dish. Identify Stop and the clear movement range first; a shared system must not have a recording that needs another position.

A motor introduces delay when changing satellite and shared dependencies between reception paths. Plan recordings accordingly. The test installation is fixed on Astra; no motor movements were performed there.
