Network screen map — owners, sources and components

A screen name is a lookup key, not a promise that all older widgets still exist. Begin with the Python class that owns the screen. Check its self["..."] assignments, its base classes and its skinName selection before writing XML.

<!-- List is a Source: it needs a renderer and a template. -->
<widget source="adapterList" render="Listbox"
position="20,20" size="1060,250">
<template name="Default" fonts="Regular;24" itemHeight="50">
<rowtemplate>
<text index="AdapterName" position="0,0" size="1060,50" font="0" />
</rowtemplate>
<rowtemplate>
<text index="AdapterName" position="0,0" size="1060,50" font="0" />
</rowtemplate>
</template>
</widget>
<!-- The scan screen owns a Label component, not a StaticText source. -->
<widget name="description" position="20,400" size="1060,45"
font="Regular;22" />

The first fragment belongs to NetworkOverview; the second belongs to NetworkWiFiScan or NetworkShares. They are not a complete screen to combine indiscriminately. name="description" connects to an existing GUI component. source="savedLabel" render="Label" connects a renderer to a Source. These forms are not interchangeable.

RestartNetworkScreen, ProtectedScreen

actions, infoActions and similar action maps receive keys; they are not visual widgets. key_red, key_green and the other key_... sources provide the current captions. The screen may set a caption to an empty string when an action is unavailable. Use ConditionalShowHide to preserve that behaviour instead of painting a permanent caption.

  • Setup subclasses inherit the config component, description, footnote, editing support and standard key sources. Their lookup sequence is explained in forms and auxiliary screens.
  • NetworkInformation inherits InformationNetwork. Its visible text is the inherited information ScrollLabel; there is no adapterList in this screen.
  • NetworkMountsSummary selects SetupSummary and provides entry and value for the front-panel summary. It is not the television mount list.
  • uShareSelection exposes checkList, backed by MultiFileSelectList. A generic network row template is not its rendering interface.
  • NetworkLogScreen exposes infotext, a ScrollLabel. It first tries its caller-selected skin name, then NetworkLogScreen.
  • RestartNetwork selects DUMMY and uses the shared Processing overlay. Enlarging its zero-size fallback does not implement a network progress screen.

Keep the content area, key bar and optional context/help indicators as separate layout regions. A named panel can share their geometry, but it must only reference sources that exist in every owner using it. Guard optional components with conditional as the common Setup fallback does.
