Automatic resolution and deinterlacing
Native automatic resolution is under Setup → Video → Video Settings. It examines the current video and chooses an output mode. An enabled AutoResolution plugin can hide the native selector. Use one controlling mechanism and avoid conflicting rules.

“Native” does not mean lossless playback in every case or forwarding the compressed video stream over HDMI. The receiver still decodes the video. Unsupported source modes must be mapped to an available output mode.
Source groups and film rates
Section titled “Source groups and film rates”Simple mode groups sources by height: SD up to 576, HD up to 720, FHD up to 1080, then supported UHD. Mode and refresh rate belong together. Additional mappings cover 24p/25p/30p. In a pair such as 50p/24p, the first value applies up to 720p and the second to higher resolutions.
“Show 1080i as 1080p” and “Force de-interlace” move field-to-frame conversion into the receiver. The better result depends on material and equipment. Check movement, scrolling text and fine edges; a higher number alone does not establish better quality.
Timing and status display
Section titled “Timing and status display”Delay time waits before reading source information. Checking too early can use provisional values; waiting longer delays adjustment. The checked source offers 0–3000 ms in 50 ms steps, with a 400 ms baseline. This is not an audio lip-sync setting.
The resolution label appears for 5–15 seconds or can be hidden. Simple mode’s optional preview can change the current group’s output before saving; use it only after establishing a working baseline.
smart1080p combines a TV/TS base mode with suitable film rates. Despite its name, other base resolutions may be offered. The video reference lists mappings and unknown-format handling.
Check an SD channel, an HD channel and a film recording in sequence. If each switch causes a long black screen, weigh closer source matching against a fixed, faster output. Screenshots cannot establish HDMI switching time or motion quality.
