EnhancedMovieCenter (EMC)

EMC adds recording and media management with its own playback interface. It provides sorting, progress indicators, covers, previews and playlists. It does not replace tuners, EPG import or recording timers. See MovieSelection, EMC or file manager? for a comparison.

  1. Open plugin installation and install EnhancedMovieCenter from the feed. The package is enigma2-plugin-extensions-enhancedmoviecenter.
  2. Restart the GUI and open Plugins → Enhanced Movie Center (Setup).
  3. Check Disable EMC = No and Start EMC with. VIDEO/PVR is the usual recordings entry point; selecting another offered button replaces that function instead.
  4. Set Movie home home path to the existing recording directory, for example /media/hdd/movie. Mount a NAS before selecting its path.
  5. Save with Green and accept a requested GUI restart. Then press your chosen button.

Expert setup level exposes the otherwise hidden disable option. Displayed values are not a universal recommended configuration. Open original image ↗

To return to the built-in recording list, set Disable EMC = Yes, save and restart the GUI. EMC setup remains accessible in Plugins. Show plugin config in extensions menu, Show EMC in main menu and Show EMC in extensions menu refer to different entries. Hiding a menu entry does not uninstall the plugin.

EMC recording list showing trash, latest recordings and a Das Erste recording
EMC displays the same recording directory as MovieSelection using its own layout. .Trash belongs to native MovieSelection here; EMC uses trashcan. Open original image ↗

OK enters a folder or plays the selection. INFO shows programme details. EXIT closes the list; its playback behaviour is a separate setting. 0 returns to Movie home. “Latest Recordings” is an aggregate view, not an additional copy of the movies.

Button inside EMC Function in the checked version
Red / long Red Separately configurable; offered actions can include delete, copy and cover toggle.
Green / long Green With the normal sort assignment, short changes sort mode and long reverses sort direction. A freely configurable Green entry is commented out in the checked main setup.
Yellow / long Yellow, Blue / long Blue Independent selections from available actions such as move, Movie home, bookmarks or playlist.
Long INFO Opens the selected movie information provider; may require an additional plugin and internet access.
MENU Context menu for the current list or selection.
Long MENU / AUDIO Available movie-list plugins for the selected item.
Short / long VIDEO/PVR inside the list Add/remove an item from the selection, or reset the selection.
TEXT Begin or end multiple selection.
Short / long TV Reload the file list or open the timer list.
RADIO Toggle watched/unwatched status. This changes stored progress information.
Bouquet +/− Depending on EMC setup: jump to start/end, skip several entries or change folders.

Your remote must provide the corresponding key codes. HELP and the footer show contextual actions; EMC’s assignments are independent of MovieSelection.

Available entries depend on selection and installed plugins:

  • Reload directory, play last, play all and shuffle; create, add to and manage playlists.
  • Copy, move and rename, create directories or symbolic links. Check selection and destination before confirming.
  • Add, remove or open E2 bookmarks and EMC bookmarks separately. Permanent folder sorting can override the normal default sort mode.
  • Cover search and movie information downloads; edit tags or cut lists through available extensions.
  • Reset markers, delete cut files and remove rogue files write to storage. Cut and resume information can be lost.
  • Delete, delete permanently and empty trash are different operations; see trash management.
  • EMC Setup and EMC Help.

In setup, use Up/Down to navigate, Left/Right to change values, Green to save and Red/EXIT to cancel. Bouquet buttons jump between sections. Some entries require Intermediate/Expert level; others appear only when a parent option is enabled. Blue selects predefined setting groups; long Blue restores defaults. These can change several values and are not simply layout switches.

Continue with library and skin, playback and languages, trash/NAS/automation and the complete main setup reference.

The checked plugin occasionally displays DUMMY CONFIGSECTION section separators or HELP_… instead of translated help. These are presentation/translation remnants, not additional settings. The original captures retain them.
