Recording Settings
This reference contains the help text provided by OpenATV. The open dialog and selected options determine which entries are visible.

Timer recording location
Set the default recording location for your timers. Press 'OK' to add new locations, press 'LEFT'/'RIGHT' to select from previously defined locations.

Experimental: strict limitation to preferred tuners for recordings
Configure whether another tuner from the preferred list is allocated for recordings instead of sharing a tuner that is already active receiving the same live TV channel.

When enabled, a recording is allowed to interrupt live TV, when there are no free tuners.

Preparation time for recording
During this time, the transmitter and recording destination are checked. If the destination (e.g., NAS) isn't ready in time, this time can be increased.

When nonzero, a recording will start the nominated period before the starting time indicated in the EPG.

Use Zap timer end times
Select 'Yes' to enable new Zap timers to have an end time turned on and defined by default.

Confirm Zap
Select a time period to display a confirmation prompt before a Zap timer changes the current service. This allows the user to cancel the Zap. Select 'Disabled' to allow the Zap to proceed without confirmation.

Configure the number of days old timers are kept before they are automatically removed from the timer list.

Show free space in timer view
When 'Enabled', the timer view will show the free space on the target device. This will wake the device from sleep mode.

Limit character set for recording filenames
Limit the characters that can be used in recording filenames to (7 bit) ASCII. This ensures compatibility with operating systems or file systems with limited character sets.

Composition of the recording filenames

Space to reserve for recordings (GB)
Configure the minimum amount of disk space to be available for recordings. When the amount of space drops below this value, deleted items will be removed from the trashcan.

Configure the speed of the background deletion process. Lower speed will consume less hard disk drive performance.

Always include ECM in recordings
Always include ECM messages in recordings. This overrides the individual timer settings globally. It allows recordings to be always decrypted afterwards (sometimes called offline decoding), if supported by your receiver.

Never decrypt while recording
Never decrypt the content while recording. This overrides the individual timer settings globally. If enabled, recordings are stored in crypted presentation and must be decrypted afterwards (sometimes called offline decoding).

Offline decode delay (ms)
Configure the offline decoding delay in milliseconds. The configured delay is observed at each control word parity change.

Default recording type
'Unscramble & record ECM' gives the option to unscramble afterwards if unscrambling on recording failed. 'Don't unscramble, record ECM' save a scramble recording that can be unscrambled on playback. 'Normal' means unscramble the recording and don't record ECM.

Configure whether the 'recording' symbol (in the display skin and LCD skin) is visible for real recordings only or also for streaming and pseudo recordings (like in EPGrefresh).
