For live TV, e2MDB needs Enigma2’s event context: channel, programme and time. It caches additional information for supported screens. It does not replace the receiver’s EPG acquisition.

Setting Purpose
Enable Live/EPG metadata cache Enable supplementary metadata processing for live TV and EPG events.
Show e2MDB EventView for EPG events Use enhanced information on supported EPG entry points when metadata exists.
Show e2MDB EventView for media events Use enhanced media information on supported recording/media entry points. Other movie players may have their own information screen.
Enable InfoBar metadata Supply metadata to the live information bar. The skin must display suitable elements.
Enable ChannelSelection metadata Supply metadata to the channel selection and supported list templates.

Service list preview image determines whether a backdrop is preferred with a preview/still fallback, a preview is preferred with a backdrop fallback, or only a backdrop is used. It changes image selection, not list geometry.

Live/EPG retention in days limits how long matched event metadata is kept after the event ends.

No-match retention in hours needs a version-specific explanation. The setup help describes retention after event end, while the reviewed backend export passes this value as no_match_retry_hours. It therefore also affects retry handling. It does not immediately delete every failed search, and a no-match result does not prove that a programme can never be identified.

First check that the normal EPG contains the correct event. For IPTV, a plausible channel name alone is insufficient if the service reference is not mapped to the EPG source. See missing EPG and IPTV.

Enabling metadata integration does not make every skin or third-party movie screen compatible. Check the channel list and media information chapters separately.
